Free
The transitive verb to free may mean to emancipate, to release from a
constriction, or to confer freedom — but as an adjective free appears in a
great many phrases, generally with the meaning of either "without cost", or
"unconstrained, not imprisoned" or when used as a suffix, "lack of."
