PlentyofFish is a free online dating service that has been ranked with Match.com, eHarmony, and Yahoo!.[1] The site uses individual member locations and message filters to determine viewable profile matches between people. Its revenue is based on Google advertising, and its staff is limited to its founder Markus Frind.

Members can add their photographs if they choose. There is a rating system in place similar to the site hotornot. The site also has a chat feature which allows for members to chat with other members regardless of age, sexual orientation and location. There is also an extensive forum discussion group for members to discuss dating experiences and organize local events.[2]

Various options while logged in on the site include; Inbox (where ones messages can be read), My Matches (people who match filter requests), Sent Msg (checking to see who the user has emailed with a carbon copy of the email and the status if it has been read or not and/or deleted), View Profile (viewing one's own profile), Edit Profile (editing one's profile), Images (to add and remove multiple photos), Mail Settings (filtering those allowed to contact a member, e.g. someone who is looking for a serious relationship can filter out those who are hoping just for an Intimate Encounter; a nonsmoker can filter out smokers), Favorites (where one can view saved members whom they deem a favorite), and View Me (the ability to see who has looked at that member's profile).
